US Now Claims Assad Working with ISIS

Officials representing the U.S. Embassy Syria Twitter account accused the Syrian government of aiding ISIS in the takeover of Aleppo this week, a major shift in narrative following the publication of declassified Pentagon documents showing clear Western support for jihadist elements in the country.

According to embassy representatives, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has not only avoided engaging ISIS targets, but has actively attempted to “bolster their position.”

“Coalition partners noted the continued deterioration of the situation in Syria and the inability/unwillingness of the Assad regime to fight ISIL,” the group said.

The embassy asserts that coalition members are currently looking into how the Syrian government has aided the jihadist’s expansion in the region, an absurd claim given undeniable evidence pointing to the West’s direct involvement in the terror group’s growth.

Late last month secret Pentagon documents obtained by conservative watchdog Judicial Watch proved that the United States and its allies purposely aided al-Qaeda and other jihadists in an attempt to topple the Syrian government.

First covered by Nafeez Ahmed of INSURGE Intelligence, the documents even state that the Pentagon knew its policy of arming jihadists would likely lead to the rise of ISIS and the destabilization of Iraq.

“Despite anticipating that Western, Gulf state and Turkish support for the ‘Syrian opposition’ — which included al-Qaeda in Iraq — could lead to the emergence of an ‘Islamic State’ in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the document provides no indication of any decision to reverse the policy of support to the Syrian rebels,” Ahmed wrote.

Since the beginning of Syria’s so-called “civil war,” the Obama administration has funded and armed radical islamists under the guise of supporting “moderate rebels.”

President Obama’s support of jihadists was so transparent from early on that he even went as far as to waive a provision of federal law designed to prevent the supply of arms to terrorist groups in 2013.

Last February President Obama moved forward again in his support by handing the Free Syrian Army (FSA), the main “moderate rebel” group, the ability to order US airstrikes on targets in the country.

Despite the President’s claims, the FSA has long admitted to supporting al-Qaeda and ISIS in the overthrow of Syria.

“We are collaborating with the Islamic State and the Nusra Front by attacking the Syrian Army’s gatherings in… Qalamoun,” Bassel Idriss, commander of an FSA-run rebel brigade, told the Daily Star last September. “Let’s face it: The Nusra Front is the biggest power present right now in Qalamoun and we as FSA would collaborate on any mission they launch as long as it coincides with our values.”

According to one jihadist speaking with Al-Jazeera in 2013, FSA fighters regularly sell their weapons to ISIS once receiving shipments from the U.S. as well.

“We are buying weapons from the FSA,” Abu Atheer said. “We bought 200 anti-aircraft missiles and Koncourse anti tank weapons. We have good relations with our brothers in the FSA.”

Abu Mohammad al-Golani, the leader of one of the largest rebel groups, also openly pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda-linked groups in 2013.

The notion that moderate rebels were a major factor in the country was all but erased in late 2014 when ISIS agreed to sign a non-aggression pact with multiple groups including the FSA.

In reality, the West’s Middle East policy was admitted by retired four-star General Wesley Clark more than 8 years ago when he revealed that the overthrow of Syria had been planned in the wake of 9/11.

According to Clark, the 2001 Pentagon plan included the overthrow of 7 different countries including Iraq, Libya, Syria.

Using the “Arab Spring” as cover, the United States has since been successful in flooding many of the listed countries with jihadist proxy armies disguised as “protesters” and “freedom fighters.”

The fact that the United States now blames Assad for the rise of radical elements in Syria signals the West’s overall desperation in finalizing its destabilization campaign.
